Update on my foot [Oct. 5th, 2016|02:44 pm]

I had a follow-up visit with an orthopedist today. He looked at the X-rays and did not see a fracture. I'm not sure what I did, but I didn't break anything. They took the splint off and put a boot on. The boot will let me put weight on the foot eventually, and it can be taken off when I shower. (Yay! No more wrestling with trash bags!)

I go back to see him next Thursday. (Obviously I wouldn't do an appointment a week from today, as that's Yom Kippur.)

(This is an all about me post. I know there's been a lot of loss recently, and my sympathies go out to the friends and family of those who have died. I need to vent, though)

I have had a good bit of bad luck in the last couple months.

First, I rear-ended a car on the highway at the end of August. Low-speed collision, but I was driving a Toyota Corolla, and the other car was a Ford Escape. End result, the front of my car was rather smushed. As it was 16 years old, it was declared totaled and I had to buy a new car. I now drive a 2016 Honda Civic.

Next, I broke a tooth. I was able to get into the dentist the next day, and was scheduled for a temporary crown the next week. Two days after it was put in, it fell out. I have an appointment tomorrow to get it put back in.(it fell out on Friday night, and yesterday and today are Rosh Hashanah) For now there is an area in my mouth that is temperature sensitive.

The final straw happened yesterday. I was stepping off the curb in front of our house, about to get into Gary's car to take Sam to daycare before we went to services, when my left ankle twisted under me. It hurt a bit, but I could limp through the day. At least until we went to Gary's dad and step-mom's for lunch/dinner. It began to hurt more and more until I couldn't put any weight on it. Off to the ER we went. A couple X-rays later, it was determined that I had fractured a bone in the foot. They put a splint on me, gave me crutches and a prescription for super-strength ibuprofen, and sent us on our way. Now I have to figure out navigating things on one foot.

Can I get a break(no pun intended) here?
